Sunday April 14th: Gotcha Day-!

Today we flew to Nanchang about 2 hours south - according to wikipedia search:
Nanchang (Chinese: 南昌; pinyin: Nánchāng) is the capital of Jiangxi Province in southeastern China, located in the north-central portion of the province. As it is bounded on the west by the Jiuling Mountains, and on the east by Poyang Lake, it is famous for its scenery, rich history and cultural sites. Because of its central location relative to the Yangtze and Pearl River Delta regions, it is a major railroad hub in Southern China.

We were met at the airport by Mary, our guide here.  She said that baby Emmie would be arriving at the hotel only an 1 hr after we get there.  We had wanted to get supplies before the baby came so she had the driver stop at a grocery store and she phoned the director of the social welfare institute (SWI) to find out what kinds of formula/cereal Emmie is on.  We also bought bottled water.  It was really crazy running around a somewhat small hotel suite trying to get ready.  We had a crib and bathtub delivered and Mary said we needed to hurry and get a bottle ready because she'd be hungry.  We were anxious in anticipation when the phone rang 1 hr later but it was a false alarm.  Mary said the car is delayed - that the director had a flat tire and it would take another hour or so.  Finally we got the call they were truly there down in the lobby.  Maddie brought a stuffed bear down to Emmie to give her.

I can't describe how amazing it was to see her live in person after only getting 3 pictures.  She was dressed in a cute little yellow outfit and had the most sylish haircut (except it was not really a haircut - it's just naturally like that).
Her Chinese name is Gan Kang Qi.  We decided to call her Emersyn (Emmie) Kangqi.  She was born February 5, 2012 so is about 14 months old.

Welcome Emmie to your forever family.  We will love you always and are so happy to meet you sweetie!
